in Mal País - Costa Rica

Characteristics of the land

Area: 45.293 m2
This land has a potable water source, a private well, with excellent reloading capacity. This self-sufficiency is extremely important since the public water duct lacks enough water during the dry season (from February to May).

The connection to the public electric network is 200 meters away.

Environmental Value: the intention for this piece of land is to save the surrounding forest, which is of high environmental value. That’s why limits were set to define those areas where it is possible to build with a minimal environmental impact, while the forest areas will remain untouched.

Natural attractions in the area:

• There are 20 Km (12 miles) of clean beaches on the Pacific coast.
• It is bordered on the south by the Cabo Blanco Absolute Natural Reserve one of the most important protected areas in Costa Rica.  With an extension of 1.200 hectares, the refuge is famous for sheltering a large number of bird species.
• Near to this property there is Playa Cueva de los Murciélagos (Bat Cave Beach) Wildlife Refuge, with white sand beaches and crystal clear water.
• There is a natural cove, used as a dock for small fishing.
• There is a rich biodiversity of plant and animal species (armadillos, iguanas, ant eaters, deer, raccoons…)
• It also boasts rich and varied sea wildlife such as tortoises, lobsters, clams, sting grays, as well as dolphins and whales.

How to get to Malpaís:

• By  highway and Puntarenas ferry boat (6 hours from San José).
• By small plane to the Tambor airport (30 minutes) and then by taxi (40 minutes).

• Public and private clinics, with quick access to hospitals in the city.
• Two banks with automatic tellers.
• Rent-a-car, supermarket, materials for construction, intermediary-free fish market.

• Canopy Tour (A trip over the forest by means of a cart suspended by metal cables and platforms on the gigantic branches).

Alternative Malpaís:

In Malpaís we can find a large number of holistic activities such as yoga and meditation centers, Pilates, massages, swimming pools, and alternative medicine, in addition to health food restaurants. Every Saturday there is a natural-product market.

Malpaís VIP

Malpaís is considered Costa Rica’s St. Tropez, due to the many celebrities that have come and build their houses in the area. This community is famous due to the beaches, the surfing, the international restaurants, the exuberant tropical vegetation and the Pacific waters, warm all year round.
